One of the guiding principles in the Convention for the Rights of the Child concerns the right of children to be heard.
Through Child Councils In Bangladesh, Child Rights Clubs in Uganda and Child Parliaments in India, we resource children to express themselves, learn to lead and to take ownership of the change they want to see in their communities.
Whilst human rights apply to children as much as adults, children rarely have as much power. They can’t vote; they aren’t always included in decisions that affect them and their opinions and thoughts can often be brushed aside.
We make sure that children are seen and heard.
Children are an intrinsic part of the planning, monitoring and evaluation of our programmes, but beyond this, we support them to understand their rights, grow in confidence and learn how to lead in their local areas.
From encouraging their peers to go to school, to preventing trafficking and child marriage, to cleaning up their communities and raising awareness about health issues, with the right resources these children become agents of change in their own futures.
